Mum and I took a bus trip to Lübeck, Germany. We’d heard a lot about the Christmas Markets and we weren’t disappointed. The Hanseatic city has UNESCO World Heritage status and it’s a great backdrop to the Christmas lights and markets.

Day and night there are all sorts of happenings. We watched some fire juggling one evening. Another day we went to a market and enjoyed some cake. Lübeck is famous for its marzipan and of course the cake was dressed in a layer of marzipan and decorated with marzipan angels.

There are plenty of coffee shops in Lübeck and even dogs are allowed.

The old city is surrounded by water. On one of our walks we watched a heron sitting on some steps leading down to the canal. Just as I was going to take a picture it noticed me and flew off.

Looking out over the old town I noticed some windows decorated with puppets. Later on I realized that the building actually housed the Lübeck Museum of Theatre Puppets. So, lots to do and see in Lübeck. I’ll definitely come back!
